Wedding Photography can be divided into a few sub-categories, one of which I call the calm before the storm. That’s the quiet moments before the ceremony, where the bride dresses up discreetly. Bridegroom hasn’t seen here for twenty-four hours, and the next time they’ll meet will be the moment they vow to love each other forever. Bridesmaid, mother, sisters and other ladies-in-waiting all gather together in this discreet room to support the bride in her fragile moment. They bathe her with love and support, as they adorn her to meet her beloved.

The challenge for the wedding photographer here is being discreet, joining the love as another family member, supporting the bride and capturing her without breaking the intimacy. The photos that result from the calm before the storm are often some of the more special wedding shots. The bride is at her finest, having just put on the dress and make up. I make sure to capture, not only the bride, but also the intimacy of that moment. It will beutifully contrast the ceremony and celebrations that follow.
