I’m delighted to present a new blog I’ve just launched: Photography Blogs. The inspiration came through my attempts to establish myself as a Roseville photographer. These days, one of the first things you look to is ranking high on google. For that, though, the competition is significant, and the newcomers tend to clutter the third and fourth pages of search results, far from the eyes of browsers.
But rankings may have little or nothing to do with skill. Some of the third and fourth pagers out there are marvelous photographers. It’s a pity their work may never see the light of day. So what I decided to do was create a platform that would promote such budding photographers.
I browse photography sites on a regular basis anyway. Whenever I see one I feel is worthwhile supporting, I’ll write the photographer and offer her to appear on Photography Blogs. She will be invited to showcase up to three choice portraits from her portfolio. She will also be invited to write a few paragraphs about herself. Her post on Photography Blogs will link to her site and thereby raise her value in the eyes of Google.
That’s the idea. I can’t wait to start tickling the feet of those Google first-pagers who think they’re well established in their niche. It’s time for our newcomers to come into our own. If you are such a photographer, or if you know someone who is in dire need of promotion, let me know. I’ll gladly post about him or her and drive traffic to their work through my new portal.
